Excellent thought provoking question. Bill Gates would not have become the richest man in the world if consumers didn’t want his products. As inflation and greed have increased the cost of those products beyond the financial means of many, the open software movement is gaining considerable ground as a viable alternative. Many people have already joined the volunteer pool as evidenced by the contributors to forums such as Y!A with their knowledge and expertise in various fields.
