Posted On March 20, 2011
New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg is interviewed by Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Al Roker, and Natalie Morales on the Today Show, where he announced that by 2012, all of New York City’s taxi cabs will be hybrids. The change will reduce carbon emissions from the taxi fleet by 50% – the equivalent of taking 32000 cars off the road. The new taxi standards are a part of PlaNYC, the City’s effort to fight global warming and prepare for the 1 million additional residents that are projected to live in New York over the next 25 years. NYC Councilman David Yassky and Yahoo!’s Patrick Crane joined the Mayor in Rockefeller Plaza.
