Q&A: What is this IT/programming movie called? I can’t think of the name?

Question by l.m x: What is this IT/programming movie called? I can’t think of the name?
The things I can remember from the movie:
* There is a company that is not called Microsoft, but it is obviously meant to be them (market domination, evil etc)
* A guy and his friends are programmers and they develop a way to compress data
* One of the guys is asked to work for the “microsoft” company, he gets the offer through a phone call when the “Bill Gates” guy is on TV
* His girlfriend was working for the company the whole time and was passing information about the work the guys were doing to the company
* The company has one of the main character’s asian friends killed and the main guy ends up finding the footage of this.
* They monitor programmers / whiz kids activities around the world and then kill them off and that is how they get their technology

I can probably add more details, but please help, what is the name of this movie (I’ll know it once I see it)?
