How do you feel about ppl who have no knowledge of other belief but are convinced that their belief is right?
Question by greenbonbon: How do you feel about ppl who have no knowledge of other belief but are convinced that their belief is right?
So convinced it’s impossible to think they’re not trying to convert you even in a casual conversation (they get really spirited).
A friend of mine told me that she picked her religion after a long spiritual journey, thus she’s convinced she picked the ultimate religion.
She said she even almost embrace Buddhism, and she goes on talking about a some Chinese philosopher. Okay…I guess she was talking about the Mainland Buddhism…but then I casually tell her that I’ve never heard of that philosopher, maybe I know him in some other name.
“Yeah, maybe” she said, “He’s the major guy in Buddhism.”
“You mean like the Buddha himself?” I asked.
“Yeah, yes, probably!”
“But the guy is Chinese.”
She gave me a blank look.
I blinked my eyes. “The Buddha is Indian.”
At another time I was watching an Evolution program on TV and out of of nowhere she came up and said in a matter-of-fact tone, “He renounced all his theories when he died…Yes he did, what’s his name again…Thomas Edison?”
I don’t know what the extent of her knowledge in other religions and beliefs…but how could she be so convinced of her belief then?
How many people in the world do you think are like this? Is it good, bad, or spiritually irrelevant?
Oops…by no means i meant anybody was a blithering idiot, SDW…This girl got a phd and working on another…so she’s quite smart…
I brought up the Thomas Edison for her ignorance in atheist belief…(atheism is a belief too, in a sense).
